Ya got to love em

No really you do, because you can't kill them....it's the law! I can't imagine anyone wanting to kill such a beautiful bird but they can be frustrating. Last Friday I had just returned home from the office and went out to the garden to feed my Koi fish when I was greeted with a rather frustrated sort of honk. Looking straight down from the garden room roof was this Great Blue Heron. I ran back into the house and grabbed up my camera but when I dashed back out it flew to the "Crazy Cat Ladies" roof next door, so was unable to get any closer. The character would fly from roof to roof when it thought I wasn't looking. After about two hours it gave one more disgusted honk and winged off into the sunset

  2. Even though we would be heart broken to lose any of our Koi to the Heron as some of them are over twenty years old, we feel privileged to have this beautiful bird in our garden.

  3. Magnificent! Thank you for stopping by my blog and letting me know about your visitor. One time in my youth when we lived in WI my cousin and I saw one by their small pond. It was standing in shallow water. We could not believe how large of a bird it was. Probably not much shorten than we were. We ran back to the house tumbling down the hill by the pond in our excitement to get to my Aunt to let her know. In doing so we scared it off. The wing span was enormous! Thank you so much for sharing this, it brought back a wonderful memory I have not thought of in some time.
