Winter's Grip Is Starting

Good news from MeMas surgeon today, she is healing very well. Roxy was just happy that she finally returned to the car.

The rest of the day was spent mostly indoor by the fire. However I did get out for a few fall photos.

Japanese Maple 'Suminagashi' with its intense red fall color was a gift from my twin brother Don and his late partner Tony for my 50th birthday.

It really brightens up the back corner of the garden.

One of my very favorite trees is this dwarf Ginkgo 'Chi Chi'

Coral Bark Maple

MeMas favorite tree is the Harlequin Glorybower with it's cobalt blue seed heads.

A sure sign of winters grip is here in MeMas picking garden, just two weeks ago she was filling her basket with dahlias every color of the rainbow.

  1. Pleased to hear MeMa is doing well. Lovely autumn colours. MeMa's picking garden does look sad.

    1. Yes she has been doing so much better, I am hoping the rain stops for a while so I can get out into the gardens and prepare them for winter.

  3. I always feel that when the Dahlia's start to look tired it's time to start packing up for the Winter. It looks like you have some nice colourful trees in your garden. It's good to hear that Mema is on the mend.

  4. Thanks Rob, I’m going to leave the tubers in the ground this winter and just mulch them over. They are MeMa’s favorite flower.

  5. Excellent news from the surgeon, well done MeMa! The photo of you and Roxy waiting in the car makes me smile. Your maple is a wonderful colour, well worth stepping outside for. Miserable weather here today, like you we shall be sitting round the fire!
