Photo Op

While my wife was having chemotherapy our eldest son did a great job of keeping me distracted. I was showing him what I had planted in the kitchen garden when this little Anna's Hummingbird fed on the pendulous flowers of this clump of Cerinth growing along the fence of the old chicken yard.  She was completely unafraid of us standing less than a foot away and didn't mind us snapping photo after photo.

  1. How wonderful, there to keep you company. I have never seen a Hummingbird.

    1. The Anna’s are here year round and then we get several migratory species as well.

  2. Hummers are wonderful little birds. We have only one variety here in NE Ohio, ruby throated. I wonder if all hummers are so aggressive with each other.

  4. Gorgeous! We're getting lots of Ruby Throated hummingbird action here on the East coast. That's the only hummers we have!

I hope you're both hanging in there and doing okay. It's nice to hear from you.

  5. How beautiful. The closest we have are the Hummingbird Hawk Moths which have the same action, but, of course, are large Moths and not birds!

    1. We don’t see the Hawk Moths until summer when there are more flowers.
